Our Story

How CHART International Began

CHART International was born out of a simple, unshakeable conviction: that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not only a message to be proclaimed, but a life to be lived. Our founders were moved by the staggering need they witnessed in India — millions of orphaned children, widows left destitute, communities ravaged by leprosy, and entire villages that had never once heard the name of Jesus.

What began as a small act of obedience — one children's home, one community — has grown over 25 years into a multi-project humanitarian mission touching thousands of lives across India. Every step of the way, we have been sustained not by our own strength, but by the faithfulness of God and the generosity of people who believe that love must be shown in action.

The name CHART stands for our commitment to be a map — a guide — for those who are lost, forgotten, or left behind. We exist to point people towards hope: the practical hope of food, shelter, and dignity, and the eternal hope found only in Jesus Christ.

Everything we do flows from a set of convictions rooted in Scripture and tested in the field.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. Every act of service we perform is an expression of His love, and we are unashamed to share the good news of salvation alongside practical care.

Every human being is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect — regardless of caste, disease, or circumstance. We go where others will not go, and we love those others have forgotten.

We serve the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. We do not separate physical care from spiritual care. A meal and a Bible, medicine and a prayer, a sewing machine and a community — these belong together.

How We Work

On the Ground in India

CHART International operates directly in India through a dedicated team of local staff, house parents, evangelists, and volunteers. We do not work through intermediaries — our teams are embedded in the communities they serve, building long-term relationships and earning the trust of the people they work alongside.

Every project is overseen by a local director who reports directly to our leadership team. We conduct regular field visits, financial audits, and programme reviews to ensure that our work remains effective, accountable, and aligned with our mission.

We are committed to cultural sensitivity and local partnership. We work with local churches, community leaders, and government bodies where appropriate — always seeking to strengthen what is already there rather than replace it.

All our field staff are Indian nationals — people who understand the culture, speak the language, and are committed to their communities for the long term.

100% of project donations go directly to the field. We keep our administrative costs minimal so that your gift goes as far as possible.

We publish regular impact reports and financial summaries. We believe our donors deserve to know exactly how their gifts are being used.

With over 25 years of ministry experience in India, our founder has walked alongside the poorest of the poor — planting churches, opening children's homes, and building a movement of compassion that continues to grow.

Field Operations Director

India Programme Management

Based in India, our field director oversees all four projects on the ground — coordinating teams, managing resources, and ensuring that every donation reaches the people it is intended for.

Children's Home Director

Child Welfare & Education

A passionate advocate for children's rights and welfare, our children's home director has personally cared for hundreds of orphaned and abandoned children over the years, many of whom now call her family.

Outreach Coordinator

Gospel & Community Outreach

Leading our village gospel outreach teams, our coordinator has helped plant over 40 churches in unreached communities across India — training local evangelists and equipping new believers with Bibles and discipleship resources.
